First and Last Bakery is recalling three types of sauces: Marinara, Puttanesca and for pasta with meat flavordue to a potential risk of infection Clostridium botulinum. According to a recall report published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the product was manufactured without a scheduled and approved process.
The problem was discovered by Connecticut Department of Consumer Protectionwhich determined that manufacturing without the proper process represents a possible risk to public health.

The ketchup products recalled by First and Last Bakery, LLC are packaged in jars of 26 FL OZ and they have an expiration date 09/26. Below are the product names and UPC codes:
- First and Last Original Marinara Sauce, Tomato & Basil
- First and Last Original Traditional Pasta Sauce, Meat Flavored
- First and Last Original Puttanesca Sauce, Mildly Hot & Spicy
Areas affected by the withdrawal
The three types of recalled sauces were distributed in Connecticut y Massachusetts through retail stores Big Y y Stop & Shopwith sales dates between September 22 and October 22, 2025.
Once the problem was detected, sales and production of the sauce were suspended to ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements.
What to do if you bought the sauce
Although No illnesses have been reported so far.buyers are urged to verify batch information retirement. If you have purchased any of the products, you must avoid consumption, discard it or return it to the place of purchase.
Health authorities reported that “the products were manufactured without an approved scheduled process nor were they evaluated to determine the adequacy of the process. Improper processing of acidified or low-acid canned foods can lead to the formation of Clostridium botulinum”.
Symptoms and risks of botulism
Botulism is a life-threatening food poisoning caused by toxin Clostridium botulinum. When ingested, it can cause general weakness, dizziness, double vision and difficulty speaking or swallowingaccording to the FDA.
Other common symptoms are: difficulty breathing, muscle weakness, abdominal distension and constipation. If any consumer presents this condition after eating the food, they should seek medical attention immediately.
