“We are not always at our best moments, sometimes there is unhappiness in the answers”: Presidential candidate António José Seguro took advantage an interview with RTPthis Thursday, to correct the speech about his political positioning.

After having evaded a concrete answer, refusing to appear in the newspaper Público classified in ideological “drawers”, he has now assumed a candidate from the “moderate and modern left”, stressing that the Portuguese “know” their “origins” and the “values” for which they fought. But I wanted to add one point: “More important than where I come from is where I want to go: I want to be the President of all Portuguese people”.

On RTP, Seguro asked the parties for a health pact and even said that he would have called them to Belém if he were the current head of state. He again defended that the eventual implementation of a State Budget does not imply the dissolution of the Assembly of the Republic.

Regarding the PS’s support for his candidacy, Seguro said he felt “honored”, but highlighted the need for an “independent” President — guaranteeing that he had no resentment towards the socialists who refused to give him formal support.
