The Government, like the Express reported last Thursday, extended Menzies Portugal’s ground handling licenses for Lisbon, Porto and Faro airports by six monthsuntil May. The decision displeases the largest union in the sector, with a large representation in ground staff and logistics services.
“At the meeting on October 22nd, we had the opportunity to convey to the Government that the extension of licenses was not in the interests of workers because it would only prolong the anxiety, instability and insecurity of workers. Convinced that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing (MIH) would have been sensitive to our arguments, we created the expectation that they would not be extended beyond November 19th”, reads a statement published this Monday by SITAVA.
