Russian authorities confirmed a Ukrainian air strike, which took place early this morning, against the Shatura power plant in the Moscow regionone of the most important supply points in the area.
The governor of the Moscow region, Andrei Vorobiov, said that, in a bombing that did not cause casualties and whose impact is still being assessed, there was a fire at the electrical station, which has already been controlled, as well as widespread cuts in heating that are being repaired.
Vorobiov said that a meeting will be held in the morning “with all services, including the Ministry for Emergency Situations, to determine the next steps to reestablish the infrastructure”, he reported on his Telegram channel.
The governor of the Moscow region insisted that the attack did not interrupt the general electricity supply at any time, nor did it affect most electrical equipment, although it was necessary to activate the emergency network to maintain supply.
Vorobiov added that he has no record of direct impacts from explosive drones and that the damage was mainly caused by the wreckage of these devices, previously shot down.
The plant is one of the most important in the region, providing electricity to more than 30 thousand inhabitants of the city of Shatura and neighboring locations.
Infrastructure is generally considered a crucial node of the electrical system in the central region of the Russian Federation.
