Two obstetrics and gynecology emergency services and one pediatric emergency department will be closed on Saturday, while four obstetric emergencies will be closed on Sundayaccording to the National Health Service (SNS) Portal.
On Saturday, the emergency rooms for this specialty will be closed in the Setúbal and Caldas da Rainha hospitals, according to the schedules consulted by the Lusa agency at 3:15 pm this Friday.
The pediatric emergency department at Faro Hospital will also be closed on that day.
The situation worsens on Sunday, with the closure of gynecology and obstetrics emergencies in hospitals in Setúbal, Caldas da Rainha, Vila Franca de Xira and Barreiro.
The emergency gynecology and obstetrics services at hospitals in Santarém, São Francisco Xavier (Lisbon), Aveiro and Leira will be restricted during the weekend, only receiving cases referred by CODU/INEM. The emergency room at Vila Franca de Xira Hospital (Lisbon) will only be available on Saturday.
The pediatric emergencies at the Vila Franca de Xira and Beatriz Ângelo hospitals, in Loures, will also be limited during the next two days, only treating cases referred by INEM.
As scales available on the SNS Portal also indicate that 128 emergency services will be open across the country on Saturdayin addition to 33 gynecology and obstetrics units that will be operating within the scope of the pilot project that requires users to call SNS Line 24 before going to the hospital.
On Sunday, 127 emergency services will be open across the country and 32 gynecology and obstetrics units.
The constraints on emergency services are mainly due to the lack of specialist doctors to ensure shifts.
Health authorities recommend that, before going to an emergency room, the population contact the SNS 24 Line (808 24 24 24) to obtain appropriate guidance.
