Donald Trump guarantees that “I wasn’t threatening to kill” the Democrats who released a video encouraging soldiers to refuse to comply with illegal orders. The North American President tried to clarify, in statements to “Fox News”, what he meant when, on social media, he accused those six Democrats of “seditious behavior, punishable by death”.
“I’m not threatening death, but I think they’re in serious trouble. If you look at sedition, it’s a form, a very serious form of treason. It’s a terrible thing to say, I assure you.” In addition to making these statements, Trump suggested that the US Defense Minister and Deputy Attorney General were investigating the matter.
The six Democrats, who have military or intelligence experience, considered Trump’s comments to be tantamount to threats. “ARREST US???”, the North American head of state had asked, in a post on his platform social media platform, Truth Social, on Thursday. He then shared someone else’s post, which said: “HANG THEM, GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD DO THAT!!” He also defined them as “traitors”, saying that it was necessary to apply an exemplary punishment to them.
The Democrats’ video was shared by Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin and showed Sen. Mark Kelly and Reps. Chris DeLuzio, Maggie Goodlander, Chrissy Houlahan and Jason Crow. Mark Kelly, who served in the Navy and is a former astronaut, stated in this video: “Our laws are clear. You can refuse to comply with illegal orders. This government is turning our military and intelligence professionals in uniform against American citizens. Like us, you have sworn to protect and defend this Constitution. Right now, threats to our Constitution are not just coming from abroad, but right here, at home.”
