“Grocery store” was the name chosen for the Telegram group, but instead of selling food, as is usual in this type of store, they sold drugs: cocaine, heroin, hashish and cannabis. Everything was, according to News Journalsold through social networks and encrypted messaging and calling applications.
After the transaction, the order process was perfectly normal, with shipments via CTT.
JN says that, behind this scheme that lasted two years, there were 16 people who operated from Vila Nova de Gaia and made drugs reach the entire national territory.
The scheme was dismantled a year ago by the PSP, and the suspects will begin to be tried at the beginning of next year for drug trafficking.
The leader of the group, a 21-year-old man, had already been arrested last year, after trying to escape because he was carrying drugs in his car.
The alleged leader of the group and five other defendants are in pre-trial detention. Another member of the group is under house arrest, and the rest are awaiting trial in freedom.
In addition to drug trafficking, the JN states that the group’s leader is also accused of possession of a prohibited weapon and driving without a legal license.
