Cleaning and reconstruction work has already started in the Algarve, after a tornado passed through Albufeira. The phenomenon, which caused the death of an 85 year old woman and injuries to 28 people, led to losses that are still being calculated.
From a distance it almost looks intact. When we get closer, the campsite looks like this. Where there were once five houses and motorhomes, there are now rubble, parts of roofs and walls, overturned cars and scattered coverings by the road.

Many were passing through and decided to return home early. Others have permanent residence here.
After the extreme wind phenomenon passes, it’s time to return to the park in Albufeira. Officials, residents and tourists sort through the wreckage. They look for belongings and try to identify their own homes.
