A E-Redes clarified this Thursday that there was a underground cable with torn insulation at the site where two dogs diedin Odivelas, but did not detect any anomaly in the electrical network in the case of the death of a third animal, in Lisbon.
At issue are the deaths of three dogs, allegedly due to electrocution on public lighting posts in the parish of Parque das Nações, in Lisbon, and in the municipality of Odivelas, which occurred on November 14th and 15th.
In the same clarification sent this Thursday to the Lusa agency, a source from E-Redes said that, “after field investigations and expertise carried out”in the case registered in Lisbon “there was no anomaly in the public service distribution electrical network”.
In Odivelas, the death of two animals resulted from an underground cable whose insulation was torn by external aggression, he added.
In order to prevent similar situations and “guarantee all safety conditions for people and goods”, the company ensures that “triggered additional actions, including the inspection of all public lighting columns in the vicinity of this last location (Odivelas), confirming the regularity of the state of the electrical network”.
“There is still an ongoing extraordinary inspection program which covers several public lighting circuits in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, with the aim of confirming their good technical conditions”, adds the note.
Following the death of the three animals, the PAN (People-Animals-Nature) questioned the Government and the Lisbon and Odivelas chambers, demanding technical investigationdetermination of responsibilities and urgent measures to ensure everyone’s safety.
