The director of the Albufeira resort hit this Saturday by a tornado guarantees full support to all guests. Visibly moved, Daniel Gama says that there were employees who risked their lives to save the children.
Speaking to journalists, Daniel Gama is grateful for the “unbelievable response” from authorities, employees, fellow hoteliers and former employees.
The tornado injured 25 people at the Éden Resort, including three employees, most of them “with cuts”. Five people were transferred to the hospital, the rest were treated at the health center.
The restaurant area, reached this Saturday by a tornadowas affected, but there is no damage to the accommodation. Customers on an “all inclusive” basis are being relocated to other units of the group, he adds.
“It was absolutely chaotic, there were people flying inside the restaurant in the wind. There were many heroes. Some injured themselves to protect children“, describes the resort director.
Around 60-70 guests decided to return home after the incident.
The director of the hotel also adds that a “rigorous” and technical assessment of the building has been initiated and that the damage will be assessed.
