This Thursday, as part of the Tribeca Festival Lisboa program, the Teatro Ibérico, in Lisbon, hosts the Portuguese premiere of “Ritas”, a documentary directed by Oswaldo Santana and Karen Harley that has already become the most watched in Brazil in 2025. The film was on the theater circuit for 19 weeks – “unprecedented”, say the directors in statements to BLITZ -, a success that made it the most watched documentary of the year in Brazil. “She was an absolutely modern, contemporary woman and therefore touched a cross-sectional audience”, explains Karen Harley. Far from a mere hagiographic exercise, the film aims to revisit the life and work of Rita Lee, a major figure in Brazilian culture, through a narrative that combines intimate images recorded by the singer herself with her cell phone, rare television and musical archives and her last unpublished interview. It is a portrait that captures not only the artist on stage, but also the woman at home, behind the scenes, in moments of fragility and humor that reveal her humanity. And where the artist herself is not afraid to say what she sees when she looks in the mirror.
