Quentin Tarantino was asked to choose his favorite films of the 21st century, listing his top 10 during an interview with writer Bret Easton Ellis, on his podcast.
The director chose to choose just one film per director – and none of his own works -, so “The Social Network”, which was previously declared to be the best film of the 2010s, was left out of this new list; in its place, Tarantino chose another David Fincher film, “Zodiac”.
The director explained that, at first, he wasn’t convinced by “Zodiac”, but that watching it on cable television led to “a completely different experience”.
“Dunkirk”, de Christopher Nolanoccupies the fourth position (“I saw it over and over and over again”), followed by “Lost in Translation – Love is a Strange Place”, by Sofia Coppola (“I’ve never seen any movie for girls done so well”). Second place may surprise: “Toy Story 3“It’s the best possible end to a trilogy”, he pointed out.
First place went to “Surrounded”, by Ridley Scott. “It’s the only film that tries to come close to ‘Apocalypse Now’ in terms of purpose, visual effects, sensations”, he explained.
