On the extensive threshing floor that is the heart of the property, the ritual of threshing corn that marks the end of summer is remembered. It is one of the crafts that remains alive at CasaNova Farmhouse, an agritourism located in Parada de Tibães, on the outskirts of Braga, where the routines linked to agriculture and country life are preserved between rustic charm and Minho hospitality. Next door, the traditional granary houses the cereal that remains there to dry for several months. There is also a wine and olive oil press, as well as various utensils that tell the story of the life of this 17th century property.
Fully recovered, it reopened as an agritourism with the aim of combining ancient traditions with current charm and comfort, without forgetting the memories, the agricultural heritage and the praise for the beauty of simplicity.
Aromas and flavors of the countryside
CasaNova Farmhouse
The 19 accommodation units (from €100) of CasaNova Farmhouse are distributed around the 400 m2 threshing floor, guarded by dense granite walls: 14 bedrooms, four T2 apartments and one T1, these equipped with a living room and equipped kitchen. Inside and outside, the rustic profile combined with the comfort of modern life stands out. An example of this is the swimming pool located on a lower level, surrounded by parasols and sun loungers overlooking the green horizon, scented with rural aromas.
Regarding well-being, the space offers a treatment room, with a “family dimension and intimate spirit”, which offers massages and treatments surrounded by the “watchful fire of a salamander”, describes the statement that reports on this Minho refuge managed by Amazing Evolution. Relaxing or modeling massages, rituals such as reflexology, aromatic foot baths, conventional drainage or according to the Renata França method are part of the menu.
Served in the old mill, overlooking the green landscape, breakfast embodies the aromas of the countryside, especially in the bread and fruits. The moment can be accompanied by the music of a piano placed at the entrance to the room. Upon prior reservation, this is also where homemade meals are served for dinner.
Preserve memory with emotional curation
CasaNova Farmhouse
Luis Mateus
In the profound rehabilitation that the 17th century property underwent, when it was called Caza Nova, to adapt to hospitality, the aim was to preserve the memory not only of the agricultural routines but also of the objects that were part of the dynamics of the time. Uninterrupted upcycling work “which ensures the maintenance of the original village spirit”, highlights Amazing Evolution, focusing on natural materials, handcrafted furniture and “details carefully preserved in an emotional curation”, capable of creating “an environment of warmth and sophistication”.
The connection to the past is also made through bales of straw placed outside, along with old agricultural machinery. As was customary in this type of property, the house also has a family chapel where religious images have been replaced by portraits that tell the family’s story.
