“Lux”, Rosalía’s new album, was released this Friday, which features a collaboration between the Spanish artist and Carminho.
The song is called ‘Memória’ and is sung halfway between the two. It was recorded between the United States, the United Kingdom and Spain. In addition to Carminho, the London Symphony Orchestra (with conductor Daníel Bjarnason) and Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música, a Catalan chamber choir, participate in ‘Memória’.
The song, sung mainly in Portuguese, has the following verses in its chorus: Do you know me? / That time passes and you don’t forget / Who I was and am finally / Oh my sweet heart / Tell me if you know or not / Do you still remember me?.
In an interview with the program “As Três da Manhã”, on Rádio Renascença, Carminho had explained that the theme was born from his desire to collaborate with Rosalía: “I offered her a song to sing on my album. I invited her to sing, and she wanted to keep the song for her album”these.
In the comments to lyric video published on YouTube, reactions to ‘Memória’ have been frankly positive: “Sounds like a Disney song”, can be read in one of the most voted comments.
[Rosalía]
Do you still remember me?
Do you still know where I came from?
Who am I that I am here?
Tell me in my sad look
That some memory exists
And you still know who I am
[Rosalía]
Tell me if I still stumble
If I’m happy, if I’m grateful
Or if I still know how to sing
Remember me please
Something, whatever
That I can’t remember
[Carminho]
Come with me through the city
Tell me honestly
If you remember me
Where I grew up and loved
With whom I lived and got along
Or if I put an end to something
[Carminho]
Do you know me?
That time passes and you don’t forget
Who I was and am anyway
O my sweet heart
Tell me if you know or not
Do you still remember me?
[Rosalía e Carminho]
Whenever I remember something
I always remember it a little different
And whatever that memory is
It’s always true in my mind
And if my soul spills
And the lack of past is oblivion
When I die I only ask
Don’t forget what I’ve experienced
[Rosalía e Carminho]
Do you know me?
That time passes and you don’t forget
Who I was and am anyway
O my sweet heart
Tell me if you know or not
Do you still remember me?
