Buckingham Palace announced today that Prince Andrew, younger brother of King Charles III of England, will no longer use titles and honors, including Duke of York.

In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, Prince Andrew says he will abdicate his royal title of Duke of York, after his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein once again became the subject of media headlines.

The younger brother of King Charles III claims that he and the royal family decided that “the continued accusations” about him took attention away from “the work of Her Majesty and the royal family”.

The decision comes at a time when excerpts have been published from an upcoming posthumous memoir by Virginia Giufffre, who claimed to have been trafficked by Epstein and to have had sex with Prince Andrew when she was 17 years old.

A personal friend of the current President of the United States, Jeffrey Epstein was accused of sex trafficking of minors and found dead in the New York prison cell where he was awaiting trial, in August 2019.
