P It seems like it was yesterday, but it’s been more than five years. It was on January 31, 2020 that the United Kingdom left the European Union after four decades of marriage. The exit was endorsed in 2016 amid slogans such as “Take back control” and promises to save millions of pounds that could be channeled to hospitals. The truth is that Leave won with 52% and ‘Brexit’ really happened. No major analyzes or in-depth study. Just mythical ideas and more or less empty speeches. Contrary to what happened, for example, when the country decided to stay out of the euro in 1997 based on an exhaustive analysis of the famous five tests: alignment of economic cycles; flexibility to deal with asymmetric shocks; impact on employment and growth; consequences for the financial sector (City) and ability to attract foreign investment.
