Twenty-five days after the President of the United States of America (USA) triumphantly announced the entry into force of his peace plan for the Gaza Strip, after signing a commitment with many Western and Muslim countries, in the city of Cairo, on October 13, things are going (relatively) well. The 20 Israeli hostages still surviving in the Gaza tunnels were freed by the radical Hamas movement within the first 72 hoursas established, and despite delays and mutual accusations, 21 of the 28 dead hostages were returned to Israel.
Overall, the ceasefire that ended three years of war has been respected, with Israeli troops withdrawn behind the “yellow line”. They still control around 50% of the Strip, mainly in a defensive approach. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, controlled by Hamas, at least 226 Palestinians have died during the ceasefire, most of them on a night last week, during which Israel resumed bombings, after an Israeli soldier was killed by armed fighters in the south of the Gaza Strip. Humanitarian aid is arriving, although not at the desired levels.
