Olga Cardoso died in the early hours of Wednesday, aged 91, following a stroke at the beginning of the week. The news of his death was confirmed by António Sala. “I’m heartbroken. Olga is no longer physically with us. Left this morning”wrote António Sala on his Instagram account.
“Dear Olga, thank you for everything. For friendship, for companionship, for tenderness, for unforgettable moments, for your unique laugh, which will never disappear from our ears and from the hearts of those who woke up to your jovial voice over thousands of mornings”his antenna companion of almost two decades also expressed.
Olga Cardoso’s death occurred two days after suffering a “forte” stroke, on Monday, reported by “News Journal”. In the last days of her life, she was admitted to Hospital de São João, in Porto, in a very delicate condition. In 2022, he had publicly revealed that he had been living with Parkinson’s disease since he was 80 years old.
Born in Miragaia, Porto, Olga Cardoso began communicating very early. In 1949, he gave voice to radio soap operas and, in 1964, he joined Rádio Renascença, where he would build practically his entire career.
Great recognition would come with the “Wake up”a morning program that he presented with António Sala for 17 years. The duo became a phenomenon of popularity and audiences, but Olga Cardoso’s success was not limited to radio. In 1993, he made his debut on TVI with the successful competition “To Friend Olga”.
