The number of victims of the shooting on Bondi beach, near Sydney, when a Jewish festival was taking place, was updated higher by the authorities. In total, there are currently 16 dead, including one of the shooters, and 38 injured, including a child and two police officers.
The update is being circulated by Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and was made by Ryan Park, Minister of Health and representative of the New South Wales (NSW) state government.
The shooting, already classified as a terrorist attack by authorities, took place this Sunday, at nightfall, on Bondi beach, on the outskirts of Sydney.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the attack as an “act of malignant anti-Semitism (…) that struck at the heart of our nation”, and assured that “police and security forces are working to identify everyone associated with this atrocity”, according to the ABC.
Reactions to the attack have multiplied. The United States strongly condemned it. António Guterres Secretary-General of the United Nations, reacted on social media, condemning the “heinous and deadly attack against Jewish families gathered in Sydney to celebrate Hannukah”. António Costa, president of the European Council, reacted on the social network X, guaranteeing that “Europe is united against anti-Semitism”.
