The Different Citizen Movement defended this Sunday the increase to 100% of the reference remuneration of the assistance subsidy for families caring for people with disabilities with a high degree of dependence.
The demand of this organization that defends the rights of people with disabilities and their families comes after, on Friday, the PSD and CDS-PP proposed, within the scope of the State Budget for 2026, to increase the reference remuneration for the care allowance for children with oncological diseases to 100%.
In a statement, the movement welcomed the measure, but defended its extension, since families caring for people with disabilities with a high degree of dependence “face permanent monitoring requirements, difficulties in reconciling professional life and care, and significant losses of income, without the current legal framework adequately responding to these realities”.
In an appeal made to parliament, the Different Citizen Movement wants these families “to have access to financial support proportional to the responsibilities they assume on a daily basis”.
