“Tomorrow [quinta-feira] I don’t know what I’m going to say at the meeting, I will listen above all else, because I think tomorrow’s meeting is about listening. We need to listen. (…) That’s what I’m going to do tomorrow, above all, is listen”, the government official told journalists at National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (Insa), in Lisbon, on the banks of the “HEALTH US TOGETHER” meeting, on strengthening health systems, particularly in Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP).
“We are always open to dialogue, we cannot not be. Dialogue is just that, it is dialogue”, he stressed.
The Minister of Health will meet at Thursday morning with the recently created AMPS to discuss the Government diploma that foresees lowering the amount paid per hour.
The governor once again defended the creation of a more predictable and uniform hiring model for doctors who work on a service provision basis, highlighting that the measure is essential to guarantee the continuity of care and the quality of assistance.
According to the Minister of Health, doctors from the National Health Service (SNS) should not feel “negative discrimination” in relation to the workers.
“They come to work shoulder to shoulder. They are colleagues. This is very important. And (…) it is very important to enthuse those who today work in a service provision regime and that at least some of them are motivated to join the SNS and become part of the teams”, he highlighted.
Ana Paula Martins added that “it is essential that this happens from the point of view of the quality of medical care”
The minister also highlighted the need for discipline and uniformity among local health units (ULS).
