Manuel João Vieira says he has gathered more than 9,600 signatures for his candidacy for the 2026 presidential election and states that his entry into the race for Belém “is already underway”. In an interview with SIC Notíciasthe musician, visual artist and teacher, founder of Ena Pá 2000 and Irmãos Catita, presented himself again as a pre-candidate, maintaining the motto that has accompanied him for several years: “I will only give up if I am elected.”
At Blitz, no podcast “Issuing Post”, Manuel João Vieira had already explained how the support collection is going, mentioning a “Candidacy Portal”, accessible through the digital mobile key, where voters can formalize their support for their candidacy.
Referring to the global political climate, Manuel João Vieira sees fascism as “a great danger“, saying he had noticed this threat even before Donald Trump’s election. Regarding the tone of the campaign itself, he added that “absurdity is part of political campaigns” and aims to be “more absurd than the duck Donald Trump”. Furthermore, he sees the need to “misgovern”.

At the “Issuing Post”had already described himself as a “candidate for fever, for disorder of thought” and as someone who proposes “the hypothesis of a country that thinks itself to the point of vertigo”.
Politically, Manuel João Vieira defines himself as being in the “extreme center”. At Blitz, the pre-candidate explained this idea by saying that it does not come “from the left or the right”, but from an “extreme center” linked to a project imagined for the interior of the country, the city of “Vieirópolis”. To SIC Notícias, he reinforced the idea that the Portuguese “need more affection” and stated that he sees himself as a President of the Republic along those lines.
Part of the proposals he presented follow precisely this record. At SIC, he promised “wine piped into every Portuguese home” and asked: “If that’s not affection, what is?”. Manuel João Vieira also added the promise of “a Ferrari for all Portuguese, a Russian skater and Cuban dancers for girls”, stressing that, in essence, what he promises “is love”.
