The man who was found dead today near the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the PSP in Lisbon had been admitted and left the emergency department of the Hospital de S. Francisco Xavier in November, he told Lusa hospital source.
A PSP source assured the news agency that the body of an elderly man was found at 11am along the Forte Alto do Duque road, close to the S. Francisco Xavier Hospital.
In a statement sent to Lusa, the Western Lisbon Local Health Unit (ULSLO), which is part of the S. Francisco Xavier Hospital, indicated tonight that the user was admitted to the emergency department (ED) on November 14th.
“Within the scope of this emergency episode, the user was screened, observed, carried out various diagnostic and therapeutic methods, finding yourself oriented and autonomous – and therefore without the need for a tracking bracelet”said the same source.
“Given the fact that he did not respond to the new observation call, the services tried to contact the user and the reference contact by telephone, without success. In view of this, a notification was made to the PSP and the user was considered to have abandoned the US”he added.
ULSLO, which expressed “deep sorrow for death”also assured that “made every effort, from a care and procedural point of view, to provide an appropriate response to this situation”.
PSP source also said that the Judiciary Police are investigating the circumstances under which the body appeared.
