Known for its generous servings, the O Fuso restaurant is a place of pilgrimage for those who pass through Arruda dos Vinhos. An old wine press, transformed into a restaurant more than 50 years ago, it has become a gastronomic reference in the region, largely thanks to the consistency and quality of what is served here.

Next to the grill, large steaks are impressive and leave no doubt that, the “Cod on the coals à Fuso” (€49.75) is king of the menu, and the most emblematic dish of the house, served with boiled potatoes, in portions that are enough for three or four people. The exposed kitchen, where, over the coals, the faithful friend’s generous steaks are the center of attention, quickly confirms the reason for the pilgrimages.
But there is more: the “Fuso grilled beef ribs” (€47.50) is the restaurant’s second most famous dish and the right choice for meat lovers. The “Estrecosto/Entremeada” (€13.95) also surprises with its refined flavor and the “Espetada de vaca na fireplace” (€18.50) is another proposal to consider.
Pay attention to the right days in the cold months when “Cozido à Portuguesa” (€22) is highlighted on the menu. For starters, order the “Chouriço and black pudding roasted over charcoal” and, for desserts, the “Puff pastry cake”, the house specialty, is a great option.
