The fire, whose cause is not yet known, led to a strong mobilization of resources, after the alert was given at 7:30 am, according to Civil Protection. There are no injuries to report.
At 11am, the incident was already in the resolution phase, but 26 operatives supported by ten vehicles remained on site.
According to SIC Notícias, the bar in question is Salty Club, located on Praia do Rei, in Costa da Caparica.
At least eight fires in beach bars in Costa da Caparica
Among the most recent cases are Casa Reîa (2025), on Praia da Cabana do Pescador, and Yamba, on Praia do Castelo, destroyed in 2023 and previously hit by fire in 2021.
The old Masstige, in the same location, burned down in 2015. In Praia da Mata, Bar da Ponte, later Unik, recorded two fires, in 2008 and 2016. There were also incidents at Meio Metro Café (2017), at Hula-Hula, in Praia do Rei (2017), and at Clássico Clube Bar, in Praia de São João (2018).
Outside of Caparica, one of the most serious cases was that of Bar do Peixe, in Meco, completely consumed by flames in 2021.
