The Turkish President confirmed this Wednesday that rescue teams recovered the bodies of 19 of the 20 victims of the crash of a Turkish military cargo plane in Georgia, as well as the corresponding black box.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated, during a meeting with representatives of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), that “work at the accident site is being closely monitored” and that “the necessary investigations will be carried out meticulously, to clarify all aspects of the incident,” according to Turkish state news agency Anatolia.
He also warned the population against possible misinformation circulating regarding the accident that occurred in Georgia, near the border with Azerbaijan, and urged them not to give credit to those who are involved in “dirty politics”, also expressing condolences to the families of the victims and paying tribute to the 20 people who died in the crash of the Turkish plane.
“The Georgian authorities are providing all necessary support and cooperation takes place at the highest levelwhile our Azeri brothers also provided all types of assistance”, declared the Turkish President, hours after confirming the death of all occupants of the Army’s C-130.
The aircraft was found just five kilometers from the border with Azerbaijan, in the municipality of Sighnaghi, in the Georgian region of Kazakhia, where the Azerbaijani Interior Minister, Geka Geladze, together with his deputy, Roni Meskhi, and several police officers, went to assist in the rescue operation.
