MMore extraordinary than the threat of war that Putin made to Europe, disguised as usual by blaming the Europeans themselves, is the silence with which these threats were received by Washington. For decades it was unthinkable that Europe would be threatened without a US President being able to speak in defense of Europe. Today, on the contrary, the President of the USA responds by releasing a new national security strategy that says, in practice, that he intends to use the extreme right to divide Europe, weaken the European Union (EU) and in this way be able to better subjugate the continent — and so that there is no doubt, a long version of the same document is now available that leaves black and white the plan to use “traditionalist” movements, parties and politicians to lead Member States to abandon the EU, all accompanied by yet another rain of insults from Trump himself and topped off by statements from Putin’s advisers signaling the Kremlin’s substantial agreement with the White House’s objectives.
