PROGRESO, Yucatán.— On Friday night, a young man was injured after being attacked with a knife during an attempted robbery that occurred on 33rd Street and 112-A, near the Carracho workshop and the Emilis room, in the eastern area of ​​the city and port of Progreso.

According to the information collected at the site, the victim was walking along the aforementioned road when he was intercepted by a subject carrying a knife. The attacker demanded that he hand over his cell phone; However, when he refused, the man slashed him, causing a wound of approximately one centimeter in his abdomen.

After the attack, the young man managed to escape to ask for help, while the assailant quickly fled through the streets of the sector. Neighbors pointed out that the presence of police units in the area, around 9 p.m., generated concern among those who went out to find out what happened.

Elements of the Municipal Police of Progreso and paramedics arrived at the scene to assess the injured person, who was treated on a public street and stated that he would file the corresponding complaint with the authorities.

The authorities did not confirm whether the attacker managed to take the phone.

Security corporations maintain a search operation in the area to try to locate the person responsible for the attack.
