TIZIMÍN.— After several months without activity, in recent days Work resumed on the controversial avenue from the north of the city, one of the works that remained unfinished.

The million-dollar work began in June 2024 and concluded its main phase just this year, although It was never officially inaugurated. Its two lanes were opened to traffic due to the importance of this road, which serves as the main route to the ports of the eastern coast.

The vehicular flow It forced the authorities to put it into operation even without having finished.

The project began in the last months of the previous administration and was taken over by the municipal government in turn, which the paving was completed.

After the placement of luminaires and electrical installationthe avenue remained unfinished, as it lacked green areas.

Millionaire investment in Tizimín avenue

The work had been announced with an investment greater than the 17 million pesosbut with the construction of storm wells, drainage and pipes, The amount increased with the current administration.

The lack of beautification work kept the project on hold for several months, and it was not until last weekend that movement was observed in the area again, when dump trucks began to arrive with soil destined for the central median, where reforestation work is planned to improve the image of the road.

Mario Pena Fuentesdirector of Public Services, reported that ground trips began on Saturday and that it is expected that in the coming days they will conclude with the spreading of the material on the median.

He also added that these works will allow progress towards the final phase of the project.

The official said that the reforestation will be in charge of the Tizimín Technological Institutewhose representatives already have available the plants that will be planted and which will soon be announced.

Peña Fuentes regretted that the company responsible had not completed the work in its entirety, since the City Council expected that what was contracted would be fulfilled and given the lack of progress, the municipality decided to intervene directly to “give image and color” to one of the busiest avenues.
