PALIZADA, Campeche.- A Morena councilor in the Palizada City Council, Campeche, was shot dead this afternoon.
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Campeche reported that state investigation agents responded to a call from a hospital where the admission of a woman who had been injured by a firearm was reported.
The authorities’ first investigations indicate that the woman – whom they do not identify – died “while receiving medical attention.” The victim is the teacher Karina Aurora Díaz Hernándezcouncilor of the Palizada City Council.
“In accordance with the action and investigation protocols, this institution has begun the corresponding work to clarify the facts and determine the identity of the person or persons responsible,” reads the Prosecutor’s Office bulletin in which they record the event.
The president of Senate of the Republicthe senator Laura Itzel Castillo Juarezregretted the death of Professor Karina Díaz on her social networks. He called for clarifying the facts and punishing the guilty “imminently.”

According to unofficial information, the Morenista councilor was traveling in her truck in the town of El Cuyo, Palizada, when she was intercepted and attacked with bullets by at least two individuals traveling in a white car. The attackers fired between 6 and 9 shots at the councilwoman.
Councilor Karina Díaz was transferred to the IMSS-Bienestar hospital in the municipal capital, where dozens of Palizada residents gathered when they learned of the events.
There are no arrests for this violent event in Campeche.
