At 8:10 p.m., the attacker went to the public event where the mayor was. Twenty minutes later, he approached the main altar decorated with candles and flowers, where the victim lived with her son.
According to visual records, the attacker moved through the crowd and surrounded the area until he was a short distance from the mayor. Once close, he activated a nine-millimeter caliber pistol and fired at least seven consecutive shots.
The authorities confirmed that one of the projectiles hit the thorax, at the level of the abdomen, which caused the death of the municipal president.
During the attack, two people were also injured: a Civil Protection element, who was initially investigated and later cleared of any participation; and Councilor Víctor Hugo de la Cruz, who presented a minor injury. Both were taken to local hospitals to receive medical attention.
On the other hand, Prosecutor Torres Piña explained that the sodium rhodizonate test applied to the aggressor’s body was positive, which confirms his direct participation in the use of the firearm. According to reports, the expert analyzes include more than 40 opinions related to ballistics, genetics, fingerprints and video analysis.
Likewise, the State Prosecutor’s Office established that the gun used in the homicide is linked to at least two previous cases: one that occurred on October 16 in the Tierra y Libertad neighborhood, where a double homicide was recorded, and another on October 23 in a bar in the Gran Parada neighborhood, where one person died and another was injured with the same weapon.

Given the events, the Governor of Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, pointed out that, although the alleged perpetrator was killed at the scene, the authorities are investigating the possible participation of an intellectual author and criminal groups that could be involved in the attack.
In this way, the state government reiterated that the investigations are carried out with the support of federal authorities and that the priority is to identify the network behind the homicide. The progress of the investigation will be presented in the coming days as the expert and testimonial results are validated.
