President Trump asked not to vote for Mamdani and reiterated his support for Cuomo in a Truth Social publication, which he launched on the eve of the elections in New York.
Los Angeles, November 4 (LaOpinión).- On the eve of the second elections to the Alcaldía of Nueva York (NY)he President Donald Trump issued a threat to voters, in order to cut off the growing sympathy of Zohran Mamdani.
“If the communist candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the elections to the Alcaldía of New York“It is very unlikely that I will allocate federal funds, except the essential minimum, to my beloved first residence,” he declared. Trump in a post on Truth Social. “As President, I don’t want to waste money.”
“With a communist in charge, the situation can only get worse, and as President, I do not want to continue wasting money. It is my obligation to govern the nation, and I am firmly convinced that New York City will be a complete economic and social disaster if Mamdani wins,” he insisted.
Instead, Trump explicitly asked New York City residents to vote for Andrew Cuomo instead of Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani in the Mayoral election.
Trump’s endorsement of former New York Governor Cuomo’s independent candidacy came on the eve of the election, in which Curtis Sliwa is the Republican candidate and in which Assemblyman Mamdani has consistently maintained a solid lead in the polls.
Trump’s comments echo those he made Sunday during his appearance on the show’s “60 Minutes.” CBS, in which he said: “It’s going to be difficult for me as President to give a lot of money to New York, because if you have a communist running New York, all you’re doing is wasting the money you send there.”
“His principles have been tested for more than a thousand years, and they have never been successful. I would prefer a thousand times that a Democrat with a record of success wins, than an inexperienced communist with a record of absolute failure. As an assemblyman, he was a disaster, he was among the worst in his class, and as Mayor of what could be, once again, the largest city in the world, HE HAS NO CHANCE to return it to its former glory!”, he stressed.
