MÉRIDA.- A shaking was recorded during the early hours of this Saturday in the state of Yucatan.
According to data from the National Seismological Service (SSN), it was a magnitude 4.1 earthquake located 16 kilometers northeast of Ticul, Yucatanwith coordinates latitude 20.52 and longitude -89.46, and a depth of 5 kilometers.
Through social networks, the municipal president of Ticul, Alberto Parra indicated that “a very loud noise was heard and A slight tremor was felt in several areas.“.
“Our Municipal Police and Civil Protection units are already on alert and carrying out tours“, wrote.
For its part, Yucatan Civil Protection confirmed this morning, December 6, that an earthquake of the magnitude already indicated was recorded, which, being low, “does not represent a risk to the population.”
The agency added that so far they have not received reports of damages in the surrounding municipalities, and they maintain coordination with them.
Third earthquake in Yucatán
The earthquake registered in the Ticul region is the third in just over 24 hours in the state of Yucatán.
