We must also remember the operation launched earlier this year by the Israeli army against the refugee camps in the northern West Bank under the alibi of the fight against the Palestinian militias. That offensive by the Israeli army, called Operation Iron Wall, focused mainly on the city and refugee camp of Jenin, but eventually expanded to Tulkarem and other points in the northern West Bank.

For this reason, Al Kheetan reiterated that “the Israeli government’s assertion of its sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, as well as the annexation of parts of this territory represents a violation of International Law, as confirmed at the time by the International Court of Justice,” and that the forced displacement of the population amounts to an “illegal transfer, which is a war crime.”

The High Commissioner’s spokesperson insisted, once again, that Israel must put an end to these operations, withdraw from the territories it occupies in the West Bank through the withdrawal of its military positions and the evacuation of all settlers from the territory to facilitate the execution of the Palestinians’ right to self-determination.
