a showcase
Regarding the evaluation criteria, each of these drinks will be evaluated through the traditional blind tasting led by industry experts, as well as numerous cultural voices from Latin America and the United States.
“This competition is a showcase for large, medium and small brands to engage in a friendly duel to find out what type of palates are most focused on their products, that is, it is not about who is better, but what type of processes is where the trend is focusing, fortunately there is a market for everyone. Today, from January to June, 307 million liters of tequila are produced, and 207 are exported, therefore the most important market for tequila is the United States,” said Víctor Martínez, Senior Global Ambassador of Agave Distillates and General Manager of Casa Sauza.
In turn, Eduardo Ayala, Head of the Beverages, Sports, Green Tourism, Cycling and Mountaineering Sectors of the Ministry of Economy, stressed the importance of this type of events.
“We recognize the importance of supporting the innovation, production and competitiveness of our ancestral and spirit drinks. The work of disseminating information is very important because the beneficiaries are all producers. We are exploring the possibility of bringing these drinks to other countries and not only tequila and mezcal, but also bacanora, sotol, raicilla and charanda among others,” Ayala said.
Likewise, the new Tequila Lab in Zapopan will be the official headquarters and it could not be in a better way, since it is a cutting-edge space, dedicated to innovation, education and heritage of distillates in Mexico. Highlight that in addition to a celebration around the spirits of Mexico and Latin America, the Tasting Alliance It is a unique opportunity to do business and network between producers, regardless of whether they are large conglomerates or independent brands.
The registration deadline is March 6 and the deadline to submit samples will be March 13, 2026.
