Neighbors of the port are those who have expressed constant complaints about the noise pollution generated by young people who remove the exhaust muffler from their motorcycles, in addition to drive at excess speed.
However, what set off the alarm the most was the notable increase in minors of just 13, 14 or 15 years old who use motorcycles to go to school or take nighttime “runs” through the streets of the port.
Fine for minors in Las Coloradas
Given this situation, the municipal president, Yeseña Osiris Loría Marfil, released a video on social networks a couple of days ago, accompanied by the commissioner of Las Coloradas, Fernando Pech Uch to announce the implementation of strict measures.
“We have made an agreement with the police and the commissioner, A minor who is caught driving an electric scooter, electric skateboard or vehicle will have it removed and, as a consequence, will have a fine.“warned the mayor.
“The sanction will be applied according to thea Municipal Income Law and its purpose is to support the Yucatan Highway Lawlos Minors cannot drive any type of vehicle.“We do it with the intention of safeguarding the safety of both the minors and the inhabitants of the community,” he explained.
The mayor urged parents to talk with your childrensince the vehicle will be detained immediately and after speaking with the guardians, the corresponding fine will be applied.
The municipal president explained that yes there is a special permit for minorsbut it is not granted by local authorities, but rather it has to be through the Ministry of Public Security, with protocols and they can only get it young people of 16 and 17 years old.
The application of these measures has not been well received by everyone, since on the one hand there are those who support the actions because they consider them necessary to maintain order and prevent accidents, another group classifies them as an “abuse of authority”, especially because they include the electric skateboardswhich some residents consider “toys” and not vehicles regulated by law.
Along with the video, the police station published an exhortation in which it reiterated that the new provisions seek to protect the population,
“We want to make it clear that this measure is not taken with the desire to cause problems, but to avoid accidents and protect the integrity of our young people. We ask for the understanding and support of the community,” the statement says.
