A total of seven people died as a result of a shooting that occurred in Parral, Chihuahua, during a horse race that was taking place in the Santa Teresa horse lane.
Mexico City, November 16 (However).- A violent shooting broke in yesterday afternoon Santa Teresa horse laneduring a day of horse racing in Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahualeaving a balance of seven people dead and three injuredaccording to reports from local authorities.
The attack, allegedly carried out by a criminal groupgenerated panic among attendees and caused the temporary closure of the Parral-Jiménez highway.
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m., at kilometer 4 of the Parral-Jiménez federal highway, where a scheduled event with 12 horse races was taking place, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. According to preliminary versions, the gunmen opened fire on a group of men who were consuming drinks aboard a white van, using assault rifles.
Among the fatalities is Benito “N”, identified as the leader of a criminal cell and considered a priority target by the authorities, related to a previous massacre on the Maturana Racing Lane, where four people lost their lives, including a minor.
Witnesses reported that the attackers, after the shooting, stole three tractor-trailers and crossed them on the road to block the passage and facilitate their escape, which prevented vehicular traffic for several hours and generated uncertainty in the area. The injured were rushed to local hospitals, while some attendees of the event fled to the nearby mountains to avoid danger.

The Parral Municipal Police issued a statement on social networks urging the population to avoid the Parral-Jiménez highway “until further notice,” due to the presence of armed groups and ongoing security operations.
Jorge Armendáriz, spokesperson for the State Public Security Secretariat, confirmed the death of seven people and noted that information is continuing to be collected to clarify the facts. The Chihuahua State Attorney General’s Office has not provided additional details or reported arrests so far.
