The president’s statements come a few days after she was a victim of harassment in the streets of the Historic Center of the Mexico City (CdMx), when a man managed to evade the bodyguards and inappropriately touched the Chief Executive. The person responsible has already been arrested.
This situation generated criticism from citizens regarding the work carried out by the security team in charge of protecting the President, since some people believe that they should have stricter protocols.
After this controversy, Sheinbaum stressed that one of the principles of the so-called Fourth Transformation (4T) is that “there cannot be a rich Government with poor people”, which is why the previous Administration decided to eliminate the Presidential General Staff, which was in charge of protecting the person holding the Presidency.
“Before, the presidents had a Presidential General Staff, eight thousand elite soldiers took care of them. Now, we have 10 companions who go with us, from the Presidential Assistant,” he noted from Nayarit.
The president explained that all the elements that made up said security body were reintegrated into the ranks of the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense) “to take care of the people and the people’s resources are returned to the people.”

President inaugurates highway in Nayarit
The President Claudia Sheinbaum This Saturday he visited the community of Xalisco, in the state of Nayarit, to lead the inauguration of the Tepic-Compostela highway, a work that will reduce the travel time between both communities by half and benefit more than 490 thousand inhabitants of the entity.
In addition, the president announced that this highway will be expanded to Las Varas-Platanitos and San Blas, with the aim of improving connectivity in the region and preserving sources of employment.
This inaugurated work has an extension of 26 kilometers, with 10 bridges, two interchanges and a tunnel; An investment of four thousand 212 million pesos was allocated for its construction and it generated more than two thousand 900 direct and indirect jobs.
President Sheinbaum also highlighted the participation of the private sector in the construction of the Tepic-Compostela highway, and assured that there is a good relationship between the federal government and companies.
“When there are no individual interests, when the only interest that prevails is the interest of the people and the nation, Mexico advances, and that is what we are doing,” he said.
