Mexico City, December 13 (However).- The christmas season It is one in which the population usually performs shopping to celebrate with your loved ones. Unfortunately, these dates also represent a risk due to the high crime incidence which is usually recorded.
The Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC-CdMx) is aware of the robberies and other crimes that occur, which is why it issued a series of recommendations so that the citizenship take the precautionary measures relevant and reduce the risks of being affected in your heritage.
Below, we share information that you can take into account to avoid being victim of the crime.
“When making online purchases, verify that the links and websites are trustworthy; and when leaving home, protect your purchases, store your valuables and avoid distractions. Here we give you other recommendations so that you can enjoy the holidays without setbacks,” indicated the capital agency in its official X account.

What are the recommendations to follow?
The institution detailed three guidelines that citizens can take into account.
In shops and shopping plazas:
- Always keep our belongings in sight.
- Avoid distractions such as using cell phones while walking.
- Carry bags or backpacks in front.
For online purchases:
- Buy only on official websites and apps.
- Check the links and avoid clicking on dubious offers or links.
- Activate notifications from our bank to monitor movements.
When using ATMs:
- Look for safe areas and use ATMs inside plazas or with surveillance.
- Do not accept help from strangers.
- Check the ATMs to be used and check that they do not have foreign objects.
- Avoid carrying large amounts of cash.

To avoid being a victim of Christmas fraud, it is recommended:
- Do not open suspicious links of supposed promotions.
- Do not pay for unsolicited packages or shipments.
- Do not show off purchases or packages.
- Keep our belongings close to the body.
- Do not use your cell phone near doors or windows of your car.
- Avoid traveling alone late at night.
At home, the SSC-CdMx recommended not opening the door to unknown people, confirming that they are delivery people or providers of some service and, in addition, avoiding publishing information on social networks that reveals that a home will be left alone for prolonged periods.
The institution also provided its official contacts to report any emergency, unusual situation or suspicious call 24 hours a day. Citizens can communicate by telephone at:
