The Megamedia 100 Years Medical Care Race, held within the framework of the first centenary of Diario de Yucatán, registered an impressive athletic and social concentration, which transformed the Paseo de Montejo, last Sunday the 9th, into an authentic human river of enthusiasm and energy, as well as sporting attitude and family unity. The day, which combined sport, health and coexistence, was consolidated as an emblematic event that brought together runners and the general public in a true celebration of the Merida community.
The half marathon and 10 kilometer routes passed through iconic places in the city, including the doors of Diario de Yucatán, in tribute to its centenary career. Metro by meter, ladies and gentlemen enjoyed a challenging and exciting route, while more than 2,400 participants became the real winners.
Among the outstanding athletes were Fernando Saavedra de León and Abigail Cabrera Martínez, who dominated the 21 km, showing their international experience; In the 10 km, José Manuel Basto Acosta “Josema” and Bibiana Bautista celebrated victories for the first time. Rogelio Martínez Segura shone in the wheelchair category, while in the youth 5 km Sebastián Chiñas Nuricumbu and Tania Argáez Uc took the honors, crowning a memorable edition that combined sport, talent and social spirit.
