Teams from the NSG, NIA, and the forensic department were rushed to the spot.
Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal said, “The news of the explosion near the Red Fort is extremely alarming. It is reported that some people have also lost their lives in it, which is extremely tragic.”
“The police and government should immediately investigate how this explosion occurred and whether there is any larger conspiracy behind it. Negligence regarding Delhi’s security cannot be tolerated,” he added.
Following the inclident, the national capital of Delhi was put on high alert, along with sensitive sites in states of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Speaking to reporters, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said, “Today at around 6.52 pm, a slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light. An explosion happened in that vehicle, and due to the explosion, nearby vehicles were also damaged. All agencies, FSL, NIA, are here… Some people have died, and some have been injured in the incident. The situation is being monitored. The Home Minister has also called us, and information is being shared with him from time to time.”
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed deep shock over the explosion near Delhiās Red Fort.
“Deeply shocked to hear about the tragic blast in New Delhi. My heart goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones and I pray for strength and a swift recovery for all those injured,” Banerjee said in a post on X.
The Congress termed the car blast incident near Red Fort as “deeply distressing” and demanded a thorough and speedy investigation into it.

“The news of a car explosion near Red Fort Metro Station is deeply distressing. Early reports indicate that several lives have been lost. In this hour of grief, we stand with the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. The government must ensure a thorough and speedy investigation into the incident,” Congress’ media and publicity department head Pawan Khera said in a social media post.
