MÉRIDA.- In accordance with the celebration of the Day of the Deadrepresentatives of some civil organizations improvised last night in the Montejo Walkon one side of the Monument to the Fatherlandand “Pantheon of Democratic Institutions”.
The event was to remember those who considered that “they were murdered this year by the government in power.”

The protesters in this improvised cemetery wore black clothing, some with mantillas that covered their faces, as is customary in funeral ceremonies.
With two improvised coffins, various funerary objects and blankets, the Protestants explained the damage and effects, as well as the loss of rights and benefits to the citizens who disappeared with the annulment and extinction of institutions such as the inap y Ceneval.
They even explained that for the election of the lawyers of the Judiciary Only 13% of the voters came out to vote and also with “accordions” to induce the vote.

“Dear friends, today we have gathered, so that together we mourn our republic and a set of autonomous democratic institutions, which, although imperfect, helped maintain a system of counterweight to stop abuses of power and protect our rights and freedoms.”.
The first speaker added that; “On these dates today we remember our dead, those loved ones who have gone and who have left an indelible mark on us.”
“We believe that it is an opportune moment for us to reflect, as a society, about the losses we have had this year and that will have severe consequences on our future and that of our families.”.
He explained that in this funeral exhibition they will find canvases with information that summarizes the death of institutions, such as the Judiciary, the law or the organizations “that died at the hands of the self-proclaimed Fourth Transformation composed of Morenahe PT y PVEM“.
And, “the date of their death, the function they fulfilled and some consequences that their deaths will have on us can be reviewed.”
The leader Patricia McCarthy Caballero stated that “They did not die naturally“.
“Remember, they were exterminated by those who currently hold power, without dialogue or mediation involved, ignoring society, academia, opposition parties, and civil society organizations.”.
“The serious situation calls us to raise our voices, to organize and demand respect for our rights and freedoms. Only together can we stop the total destruction of our democracy and only together will we be reborn from the ashes,” he said.
