Noel Pérez Urquidi was close to the Morenoist deputy, Pedro Haces Barba, with whom he was seen at official CATEM events for several years.
Mexico City, October 27 (However).- The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Oaxaca (FGEO) confirmed this Monday afternoon the execution of Noel Pérez Urquidi, union leader associated with the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM) that manages the Morenoist deputy Pedro Hacesoccurred in Salina Cruz.
“The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Oaxaca (FGEO) began the corresponding investigations regarding the attack in which a person lost his life, a victim identified as NPU (union leader), events that occurred in Salina Cruz, on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Derived from these events, the Oaxaca Prosecutor’s Office deployed a multidisciplinary team through the Regional Deputy Prosecutor’s Office of the Isthmus, to carry out the first investigations to define the lines of investigation and establish the theory of the case,” the Prosecutor’s Office reported in its official X account.
The institution added that it collaborates with the three levels of Government to coordinate the pertinent judicial actions “to bring to justice whoever or those who are responsible for this crime.”

According to official information, Pérez Urquidi was killed outside a restaurant where he was holding a meeting with his representatives and which is very close to the union headquarters to which he was attached.
According to police reports, the body of the deceased was left lying at the foot of his truck at the time of being intercepted by his attackers, whose whereabouts could not be identified or established.
“The Oaxaca Prosecutor’s Office is committed to comprehensive investigations with a scientific approach that allow it to provide effective results in the provision of justice to direct and indirect victims, especially in cases of high-impact crimes,” the agency concluded.
CATEM, in the sights of the authorities
The Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), the union headed by the Morenista Pedro Haces Barba, has not only been denounced in several states of the Republic of alleged criminal acts involving kidnapping and homicide.
Just last July, the FGEO began an investigation against leaders of materialist unions, including CATEM, due to the disappearance of merchants from the State of Mexico in Ocotlán de Morelos.
The Attorney General of Justice, Bernardo Rodríguez Alamilla, said at the time that, among those allegedly responsible, the leaders of the materialist unions in Oaxaca are being investigated, including the CTM, the CATEM and the Libertad Union, the latter two linked to organized crime groups.
