MERIDA.— The Government of Yucatán made new movements in its administration, by appointing Xavier Enrique Alayola Rosado as manager of the office of Board of Trustees of the Cultural and Tourist Services Units of the State of Yucatán (Cultur)already José Clemente Escalante Alcocer as new general director of Higher Technological Institute of Progress.
The information was confirmed through an official statement issued this Saturday. It was specified that these adjustments seek to “strengthen the operation, promotion and consolidation of the state’s cultural and tourist spaces.”
Changes in Cultur and in the Tecnológico de Progreso
The appointment of Alayola Rosado comes after Escalante Alcocer concluded his term as head of the Cultur Board, a position he held until this week, to now assume the direction of Tecnológico de Progreso.
The State Government thanked Escalante Alcocer for his work in the department. He highlighted his contribution to strengthening the cultural and tourist heritage of the entity.
At the Tecnológico de Progreso, Escalante Alcocer replaces Sugely Manzano Alvarado. She had led the team since September 2024, when she was appointed by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena.

Background in the Tecnológico de Progreso
Manzano Alvarado’s management was marked by internal disagreements. During his administration, teachers and students held demonstrations to denounce alleged mismanagement in the management of the campus.
The former director is the doctor’s niece Raúl Leandro Alvarado Naalwho was Morena’s candidate for mayor of Progreso in previous elections.
The versions about his departure began to circulate since Friday among staff and students of the Tecnológico, and were officially confirmed with the new appointments.
