At 88 years old, this afternoon Monsignor died Lorenzo Cardenas Aregullinwhoever bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Papantlawith episcopal seat in Teziutlán, Pueblaas confirmed by the official channels of this ecclesiastical jurisdiction.

Monsignor Cárdenas Aregullín led the diocese for more than 30 years and, after his resignation, was succeeded by Mons. Jorge Carlos Patron Wongwho later assumed the archbishopric of Xalapa.

Lorenzo Cárdenas Aregullín was born on March 23, 1937 and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1962. His pastoral path continued with his appointment as auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Tehuacán on March 17, 1978, and subsequently, he was appointed bishop of Papantla on October 30, 1980. During his episcopacy in the Diocese of Papantla, he dedicated himself to serving the Catholic community of the region, promoting the faith and spiritual well-being of the faithful.

After more than 30 years of service, he resigned from the position in May 2012, becoming bishop emeritus and leaving a legacy of dedication and commitment to his diocese.

The body of Monsignor Cárdenas Aregullín will be laid to rest starting tonight at the Holy Cathedral Church of Teziutlán, Puebla. The funeral will be held next Tuesday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the same temple, where tribute will be paid to his career and religious service.
