La Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo (CSP) destacó este lunes que México ya se prepara para la Copa Mundial FIFA 2026, que atraerá a 5.5 millones de turistas.


Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted that Mexico is already preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will attract 5.5 million tourists and show its cultural wealth to the world.

Mexico City, November 10 (However).- The President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo (CSP) announced this Monday that Mexico expects to receive 5.5 million tourists during the 2026 FIFA World Cupwith which it is planned to strengthen the economy national and show the culture of the country before the world. Likewise, he reported that he will donate his ticket 001 to a girl or young woman who loves the footballwith the aim of inspiring more women to dream about this sport.

From the Los Pinos Cultural Complexthe president considered that the tournament will be a global celebration that will unite Mexico, Canada y United States (EU)and that will allow the cultural greatness, friendship and unity of the host nations to be shared with the world. With this, he affirmed that the country is ready to receive the millions of tourists who will attend the matches and events associated with the Worldwho, he assured, will leave an important economic benefit.

“It is a moment to share with the world what we are, what Mexico is: not only a country of enormous cultural greatness, but also a historical moment that our country is experiencing; a people proud of its roots, proud of its present and its future; an empowered people that shows itself to the world. It is a pleasure, it is an honor for me to present this World Cup in our country, and it is a very special moment for each and every Mexican,” he mentioned.

The Chief Executive pointed out that to receive them there is the necessary infrastructure, such as the Guadalajara and Monterrey airports; in addition to the Mexico City International Airport (AICM), remodeled with an investment of nine billion pesos (mdp); and the train that will connect Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) with the capital.

Likewise, he reported that the Social World Cup will soon be presented, a set of activities that will accompany the sports event. In this area, the construction of fields throughout the country is contemplated; the holding of inclusive tournaments aimed at young people, older adults and people with disabilities; as well as the FIFA Fest so that the general public can see the different matches.

For her part, the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, recalled that there are 213 days left until the start of the World Cup, an event that she considered an opportunity to place Mexico on the international agenda, since it will allow the national gastronomy, crafts and biodiversity to be shown to millions of visitors.

In turn, the Coordinator of the work of the Government of Mexico, Gabriela Cuevas Barron, stressed that Mexico is the first country to organize three World Cups. He also highlighted that the three host countries share the objective of holding the best World Cup in history, which is why a Comprehensive Security Plan was developed with the participation of all federal and local agencies to guarantee that this event takes place in a safe environment.

Cuevas Barron shared that Mexico will host 13 games that will be played in stadiums in Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. In addition, 17 sports facilities will function as training centers. The economic benefit, estimated between 1.8 and three billion dollars, will benefit local communities and sectors.

The executive director of FIFA Mexico, Jurgen Mainka Ruiz, is confident that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the largest in history, with 48 teams, 104 matches and 39 days of competition. In this way, he specified that the Mexican stadiums will receive more than 800 thousand fans, while the FIFA Fan Festivals will bring together more than six million people in the three host countries.

Mainka Ruiz explained that the organization of the tournament requires extensive logistics that includes 13 headquarters camps in 10 cities, 17 training camps and 26 thousand hotel nights. In this way, he added that the event will reach a global audience of approximately six billion viewers through television and social networks.
