In an interview with “Los Periodistas”, Fabiola Alanís Sámano, president of the Political Coordination Board of the Congress of Michoacán, considered that society’s reaction is natural in a time of mourning, but warned that some opposition groups seek to take political advantage of the tragedy.
Mexico City, November 8 (However).- The president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Congress of Michoacan, Fabiola Alanis Samanorecognized that Morena failed by not having supported Carlos Manzo in the last electoral process in which he sought the Mayor of Uruapan, which he won as an independent candidate.
“We have to say things as they are, it seems to me that we failed. Carlos Manzo already had a great presence since he was a federal representative, he wanted to be a candidate for Uruapan, there was a lot of pressure for him not to be our Morena candidate, but for the previous Mayor Ignacio Campos to stand. We have to say things as they are, the defeat for Morena was the municipality where there was the greatest difference in votes with the Morena candidate and in this case the independent Carlos Manzo,” acknowledged the leader of the Local Congress to “Los Periodistas”.
The Deputy reiterated in that sense: “It was a mistake by Morena not to have proposed him to be the municipal president, we must recognize it.”
Alanís Sámano also asked opposition political actors “not to profit from the tragedy” after the murder of the Mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, and affirmed that the state is not going through a political or institutional crisis.
“They are used to profiting from misfortune, they are used to profiting politically as they have run out of flags and as the 4T movement is far beyond the individuality of its militants, logically we are going to face this type of obstacles, the obstacles of the right and we as a movement must have enough fortitude and intelligence to get out of the way of the historical opportunism of the right,” said the legislator in an interview with “Los Periodistas”, a program that is broadcast on from the SinEmbargo Al Aire YouTube channel.
Fabiola Alanís maintained that the project led by the Fourth Transformation in Michoacán will not be weakened by the right, and accused her adversaries of acting with cynicism.
“The right is the holocaust, it is October 2, 1968, it is Acteal, it is what these 36 years of the neoliberal model did. And the right refuses to recognize that we are changing. They do not scare us by wanting to undermine the movement from Michoacán because people know that we are different,” he expressed.
The Legislator acknowledged that there is great indignation in Michoacán over the murder of Carlos Manzo, but criticized that the opposition takes advantage of this situation to try to destabilize Morena and the Fourth Transformation movement.
“They are not going to undermine the movement from Michoacán, they are not going to undermine the Fourth Transformation movement or Morena because there is history here, we know each other here and we know from which leg the PRI and the PAN are limping. They are cynics.”
The president of the Jucopo in Michoacán affirmed that it is an excess to ask for the dismissal of Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla and recalled that the issue of violence in Michoacán is not something that began with the Morena governments, but rather dates back to the six-year term of Felipe Calderón
“It seems like an excess to me, certainly Michoacán is a very complex entity. There is a historical break in our state that has to do with this increase in organized crime. It is in 2006 with the arrival of Felipe Calderón,” said the Morenoist legislator.
Alanís said that Manzo’s death left all of Michoacán in mourning, but insisted that the institutions work and that both Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla and President Claudia Sheinbaum reacted in a timely manner.
“We are very dismayed, the 4.7 million people who live here are sad, we were mourned by the murder of Carlos Manzo. But the Governor is working, he has made an important effort, and the President very quickly launched this Michoacán Plan for peace and justice that seems extraordinary to me. We are going to move forward,” he said.
The Representative highlighted that consensus was achieved in Congress to support the decision of the Aquila Council to appoint Grecia Pimentel as head of the Municipal Presidency, and rejected the existence of political decomposition.
“From there to say that the Governor resigns, it seems to me that it is an excess. What we need is stability, strong institutions and coordination with the business sector, with civil associations and with producers,” he emphasized.
Finally, Alanís recalled the federal operations of past six-year terms and contrasted their logic with the humanistic approach of the current federal government.
“I who lived through the Michoacán Joint Operation with Felipe Calderón and then the Michoacán Plan with Enrique Peña Nieto, I can tell you that the President’s project is diametrically opposed to those two models that they promoted here with blood and fire,” he said.
