MÉRIDA.- Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena led the signing of the Collaboration Agreement on the Procurement, Processing, Storage and Supply of Skin, Musculoskeletal Tissue and Amniotic Tissue between the State Government and the Bone Bank of the State of Mexico.
With the above, an inter-institutional alliance is consolidated that will allow Yucatecans to access highly specialized treatments without having to leave the state.
Firm step towards fair public health
Diaz Mena highlighted that this agreement represents a firm step towards a more fair, modern and humane public health, by guaranteeing that people with serious illnesses receive quality specialized care, no additional costs nor trips outside the entity.
“Thanks to this agreement, 50% of the fabric procured in Yucatán “It will be processed and returned to the state, already sterilized and ready to be used in public and private hospitals, at no cost to patients.”
“That is, each donation made in Yucatán will translate into direct benefits for our own communities, strengthening therapeutic self-sufficiency and reducing hospital expenses,” he stressed.
In the presence of the Secretary of Health of Yucatán (SSY)Judith Ortega Canto, the Governor recalled that in the entity there was no infrastructure for the processing of osteotendinous tissues or amniotic membranes.
The above limited the care of patients with serious fractures, bone tumors or severe burns that they needed biological grafts.
Agreement opens a stage of hope, says Díaz Mena
With this agreement, he said, the door opens to a new stage of hope for hundreds of families facing these conditions.
In this sense, Díaz Mena thanked the presence and commitment of the Secretary of Health of the State of MexicoMacarena Montoya Olvera.
As well as the support of the director of the National Transplant CenterRosa Erro Aboytia and the head of the SSY, for joining forces and achieving this agreement.
In addition, he recognized the general director of the Yucatán State Transplant Center (Ceetry)Jorge Martínez Ulloa, for promoting this project with vision and dedication.
The governor indicated that this agreement reflects the vision of a health system based on cooperation, equity and science at the service of life.
Governor talks about sharing capabilities
He insisted that modern medicine can no longer be understood from geographical limits, so States must share capabilitiesinfrastructure and knowledge so that no one is left without care due to lack of resources.
“Organ donation and transplantation are acts of love and that is why, in each hospital and in each community, we must continue to promote the culture of altruistic donation,” he expressed.

Prior to the signing of this agreement, in which Díaz Mena served as an honorary witness, he explained that his government will continue to strengthen health and promote a culture of life, empathy and conscience, because donating organs — he said — is not losing something, but multiplying life.
In her speech, Macarena Montoya Olvera, Secretary of Health of the State of Mexicoexpressed his pleasure for participating in this event.

He assured that a laudable and supportive cause such as the altruistic donation of tissues for therapeutic purposes is promoted and strengthened.

For her part, the head of the SSY, Judith Ortega Canto, maintained that the signing of the collaboration agreement represents a firm step towards the consolidation of a more solid, humane and efficient procurement and transplant network.
