The ISSSTE highlighted that the High Specialty Regional Hospital (HRAE) of Oaxaca and the new General Hospital (HG) of Tampico, Tamaulipas are under construction.
Mexico City, November 6 (However).- The Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE), by the general director Martí Batres Guadarramarecognizes health as one of the strategic priorities of the Second Floor of the Fourth Transformation, which leads the President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardothus strengthening the hospital infrastructure for the benefit of the eligible population.
With this in mind, construction of the new High Specialty Regional Hospital (HRAE) of Oaxaca, with an investment of more than three billion pesos. The unit will have 250 census beds, 44 offices and 36 specialties, as well as healthcare services. X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, tomography, nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging for the benefit of more than 1.7 million beneficiaries.
The new General Hospital (HG) of Tampico, Tamaulipas, is also being built, which will provide timely and quality care with high-end equipment such as a tomograph, a magnetic resonance imaging machine, and a hemodynamics room. The total investment is two thousand 318 million pesos, for the benefit of 350 thousand beneficiaries of the entity, as well as the north of Veracruz, San Luis Potosí and Hidalgo.

In addition, the HG “Dr. Carlos Calero Elorduy”, in Cuernavaca, Morelos, which functioned as a COVID hospital during the health emergency, is rehabilitated so that it functions again as a permanent General Hospital.
On the other hand, the demolition of the “Dr. Gonzalo Castañeda Escobar” hospital, located in Mexico City, continues. This work, started in August 2025, includes two phases: the total demolition of the old building and the construction of a new clinic that will benefit more than 100,000 beneficiaries in the north of the capital.
With an investment of 630 million pesos, the expansion and remodeling work is carried out to convert the Hospital Clinic (CH) of Chetumal, Quintana Roo, into a General Hospital for this region, and works are carried out in five Family Medicine Units (FMU): in San Buenaventura, Coahuila; Guelatao, Tapanatepec and Huautla, Oaxaca; Arcelia, Guerrero; and in the municipality of Díaz Ordaz, Tamaulipas.

Likewise, the expansion of the Cancún, Quintana Roo HPP is contemplated; from the Satélite Family Medicine Clinic (CMF), in Naucalpan, State of Mexico; and the UMF of Tixkokob, in Yucatán; Hecelchakán, Campeche; and Rosarito, Baja California, where 11 million 836 thousand pesos were invested to establish a new unit.
Together, these works will bring family medicine, stomatology and healing offices, healing rooms, among other services, to different communities.
Likewise, the ISSSTE follows up on the President’s guidelines to assess in the 2025-2030 Works Plan the construction of new Hospitals or second-level medical units in Sonora; Chihuahua; Tlaxcala; Purépecha Plateau of Michoacán, and to rebuild the HG “Dr. Darío Fernández Fierro”, in Mexico City, where the kitchen, operating room, pediatric and adult emergency areas have already been renovated, in addition to drainage and cistern repairs.
