2024 is the third most violent year; while suicide rises in one year to the third cause of mortality in children aged 5-14 years
He National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) of Mexico reported today Monday (12/10/2025) that In Yucatán, homicides increased by 25% and suicides decreased by 2.9% in 2024: the first rose from 52 to 65 victims from 2023 to 2024 and the seconds decreased from 341 to 331respectively, so on average they occurred five or six homicides and 28 suicides a month.
Another fact that stands out is that suicide escalated of eleventh the third cause of death in Yucatecans aged 5-14 yearsgoing from three victims in 2023 to eight dead in 2024, after malignant tumors and cerebral palsy, with 18 and 11 deaths, respectively.
